DIXON PLACE GENERAL MANAGER DESCRIPTION

Award-winning organization seeks hands-on leader to manage operations and oversee the organization during this exciting and challenging time of expansion and growth.

GM will have strong leadership, verbal and written communication skills, and fundraising, marketing and financial management experience. Key qualifications include:
· Minimum 5 years leadership experience.
· Experience managing day-to-day office operations.
· Proficiency with computers; knowledge of Quickbooks, Filemaker Pro and graphic design software a plus.
· Experience and success in fundraising and financial management.
· Sense of clarity, sharpness and directness; the ability to grasp the big picture while overseeing day-to-day operations.
· Highly organized with the ability to delegate and guide subordinates.
· Strong sense of responsibility; willing to work until goals are met.
· Strong entrepreneurial instincts and creative, innovative thinking.
· A calm and flexible mind is crucial.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience, although candidate must be willing to accept $40-50k until new space opens in fall 2008. This position offers a terrific opportunity for accelerated advancement and growth for the right candidate who is prepared to step up to the plate and expand the scope of this position as the organization itself expands.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING
· Prepare quarterly cash flow statements; compare to budget projections and report.
· Update operating budget according to changes in environment & programming.
· Prepare accounting reports related to specific programs, audience attendance, box office statistics and capital expenditures.
· Bookkeeping for all Company accounts, including payroll administration.
· Prepare yearly budgets with the Executive Director and Development Director.

STAFF SUPERVISION
· Oversee weekly office workflows and staff meetings
· Hire, train and supervise administrative interns on a semester schedule
· Hire, orient and supervise independent contractors as necessary

MARKETING
· Program, update, re-design and maintain organization's web pages
· Graphically design or cause to be designed all promotional materials, including artist postcards, bi-weekly eblasts, festival posters and season brochures.

COMMUNICATIONS
· Serve as administrative contact for the organization, re-directing inquiries as needed.
· Process incoming mail and messages
· Respond promptly to funding notifications and donations.

ADMINISTRATION
· Set and enforce deadlines for the booking of performance calendars and the creation of promotional materials.
· Oversee preparation of bulk mailings.
· Prepare artist contracts, with approval from E.D., and liaise with artists to explain contract and obtain signatures.
· Oversee maintenance of office equipment, computer software, phone system and facility.
· Troubleshoot server and email issues.

DEVELOPMENT
In partnership with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors, GM will assist with Board Development and expansion of donor base.

EVENT MANAGEMENT
Manager should be available to staff at least one performance per week: to manage front of house & box office, and host performance, providing info about organization & artists' introductions to audiences.
