Warning: Not for Broadway!
WNFB is an annual festival that functions like a laboratory for experiments in musical theater and opera works. Richard S. Bach, a Dixon Place board member, initiated the festival in 2001 to open doors to emerging and established musical theatre creators trying out unconventional pieces. "WARNING: Not for Broadway" seeks new and unusual works that combine story with song; whether the story is non-linear, from a rarely heard voice, about a controversial subject, or the song is all electronica, hip-hop, or even barber-shop quartet. WNFB is curated by Michelle Feldman. WNFB may or may not be coming soon. ;) Stay tuned.

Dixon Place Intergenerational Festival

HOWL
HOWL!, named after the groundbreaking poem by East Village icon Allen Ginsberg, is an annual week-long celebration of the counter culture, presented by the Federation of East Village Artists. FEVA, formed in 2002, is dedicated to the preservation of the neighborhood's great cultural legacy and to promoting opportunities for the next generation of visionaries to flourish.  From Emma Goldman to Charlie Parker, from Miguel Pinero to Keith Haring, from Harry Smith to Joey Ramone, the East Village has been a Mecca for the rebels and the dreamers, and under FEVA's watch, it will continue to be.

HOWL! '06 features over 400 events -- music, theater, film, dance, poetry and performance art -- at 75 participating venues with over 125,000 people expected to attend. The centerpiece of the festival is the free outdoor events, which turn Tompkins Square Park into a counter cultural county fair.  Kids frolic, local venders sell amazing food, arts and crafts and three stages feature wildly diverse live entertainment.   For more information about FEVA and the HOWL Festival in general, please see their website: www.howlfestival.com.
